Seattle Mariners hire Chicago Cubs farm director Jason Kanzler as manager

What the coverage says

The Seattle Mariners have appointed Chicago Cubs farm director Jason Kanzler as their 22nd manager following a 76-86 season that ended with the firing of Dan Wilson. At 36 years old and with no prior managerial experience at any level, Kanzler becomes the second-youngest manager in baseball. Yahoo Sports reported that Joe Espada was a finalist for the position before the team selected Kanzler. Yahoo Sports also characterized the choice as a bold move that "skips the vetting process and risks the franchise's future on unproven coaching."
