How the test works
Each test has 20 targets. A colour appears above the board, and you tap any tile of that colour. Your reaction time for each target is measured from the moment the colour appears to your correct tap, and the result shows your average, your fastest tap and your accuracy.
- Get faster, get more points: every correct tap in a row shortens the clock a little and raises your points multiplier, up to ร5.
- Mistakes cost you: a wrong tile or running out of time takes away points and resets your streak, so the clock relaxes again.
- Colour-blind friendly: switch on Show colour names to see the name on every tile.
| Level | Board | Colours | Time per target |
|---|---|---|---|
| Easy | 3 ร 3 | 3 | 5.0 s, down to 1.6 s |
| Medium | 4 ร 5 | 4 | 2.75 s, down to 1.4 s |
| Hard | 5 ร 6 | 6 | 2.5 s, down to 1.2 s |
What is a good reaction time?
In the simplest lab test โ press a button the moment a light comes on โ most people react in about a quarter of a second (250 ms). This test is harder: you have to recognise a colour, search the board for it and then tap, so times of 500โ1,000 ms are normal. The more colours on the board, the longer the choice takes, which is why the Hard level is slower for everyone.
Things that make your time worse: tiredness, distractions, a slow or busy phone, and caffeine wearing off. Things that help: practice, good light, and taking the test when you're fresh.
Questions
Does my phone affect the result?
Yes, slightly. Screens and touch sensors add a small delay, usually tens of milliseconds, so compare your scores on the same device.
Is my score saved?
Your best result for each level is saved only in your own browser. Nothing is sent to us.
