Why Iraola's Liverpool are still a work in progress
The Independent
What the coverage says
Following a 3-2 defeat to Fenerbahce in Istanbul, Andoni Iraola faced questions over a late collapse and a decision to rotate his lineup. The Independent reported that this "horror night" exposed the risks of managing a lopsided squad across multiple competitions, while Iraola defended the changes he made. BBC Sport added analysis from Stephen Warnock and Guillem Balague pointing to ongoing defensive vulnerabilities and tactical experimentation, specifically the use of Bradley Barcola in attack. Together, the coverage shows that the team remains a "work in progress" as it struggles to establish a settled identity.
