SME IPOs this week

SME IPOs are small companies listing on the BSE SME platform. They need a much bigger minimum investment and carry more risk than mainboard IPOs, and their shares can be hard to sell later.

A quick IPO glossary

  • Price band: the range you can bid in. Most retail investors bid at the top ("cut-off price").
  • Lot size: the minimum number of shares you must apply for, and the steps you can add.
  • Fresh issue vs offer for sale: a fresh issue raises new money for the company; an offer for sale only lets existing owners sell their shares.
  • Anchor investors: big funds that commit money a day before the IPO opens.
  • Grey market premium (GMP): an unofficial, unregulated estimate of the listing price. It is often wrong.
