College football rankings after Week 9: Updated US LBM Coaches Poll, AP Top 25

What the coverage says

Following a chaotic Week 9 that included seven losses by ranked teams, the AP Top 25 and Coaches Poll face major shake-ups just before the initial College Football Playoff rankings are released. Yahoo Sports reports that Miami held the top spot despite escaping a scare, while Ohio State suffered a stumble that drops the team out of the top ten, according to CBS Sports. CBS Sports also notes that USC reenters the rankings following an upset victory. Both outlets detail how losses by programs such as SMU, Northwestern, and Oklahoma State opened positions for new arrivals across the standings, while Yahoo Sports provides conference-specific breakdowns for the Big Ten, ACC, and SEC.
