Fox News
What the coverage says
Democratic state Representative Gina Hinojosa has defeated three-term Republican Governor Greg Abbott, ending Republican control of the governorship that had stood since 1995. As reported by NBC News, NPR, and the New York Times, this victory makes Hinojosa both the state's first Latina governor and its first Democratic governor in three decades. While CBS News and ABC News focused on the mechanics of the four-year term and Abbott's concession speech to supporters, Fox News added that Hinojosa campaigned against school vouchers and corporate influence while tying the incumbent to Trump.
