CONCACAF changes the Gold Cup format to 2 groups of 8 teams starting in 2027

What the coverage says

Starting in 2027, the soccer tournament will move away from its traditional structure of four pods containing four teams each, according to Yahoo Sports. Instead, the revamped schedule will feature two groups of eight teams to generate more meaningful matches during the opening stage. CBS Sports adds that this shift grants every side an additional fixture before four qualifiers advance from each group into the knockout rounds.
