Variety
What the coverage says
The Kennedy Center and President Donald Trump have revealed the 49th annual slate of honorees, consisting of Paul Anka, David Foster, Andy Garcia, David Mamet, and Barbara Mandrell. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the gala will be held at the Capital One Arena in Washington D.C., rather than the Kennedy Center itself, following a facility shutdown and an effort by Trump to rename the institution. The New York Times notes that these awards arrive while the arts venue remains in a state of turmoil.
